My installer insists that a properly designed and constructed inverter will only accept power up to its rated value with no adverse effects apart from the fact if you use any product continuously at its maximum rating it will reach its design life sooner than if it is only used at part load. He recommends putting on approximately double the inverter rating in solar panels to produce more power in the morning and afternoon although as you point out the panel rating is under ideal conditions and most of us only actually see about 80% of the panel rating at best. .
