You need to look beyond the decade. We need "extremely" fast speeds for technologies coming down the line in 10, 20, 30 years. Fibre to the premises would have provided that.
You are only correct about wireless if speed demand and usage "freezes" where it is today. That's the only way that 4G/5G will be able to deliver the speeds necessary in the coming decades. An FTTP network would have given us the CERTAINTY that we are ready for what is coming. Instead, we threw billions down the drain on FTTN -- which is already obsolete.
