• Event: EQN has reported that a fire has caused damage to the 20MVA transformer and adjacent 11kV
substation at the Lumwana copper project.
• Earnings and Valuation Impact: We have not changed our earnings or valuation estimates at this stage due
to the uncertainty around the situation.
• Investment View: This event is very unfortunate, but we note that the delay in the commencement of
concentrate production is short-term and should not impact F09 earnings. Further, considering Lumwana has a
current LOM of ~37 years, we see this one-off situation as relatively small in the scheme of the total EQN story.
