On 1 July 2002, we're introducing four new OptusNet Cable plans to replace the Lightning Fast plan. You can stay on your existing Lightning Fast plan until the end of your 12 month commitment, or you can change to one of the new plans after 1 August. If you remain on your existing Lightning Fast plan, it's important you are aware of the changes to My NetStats outlined below.

Introducing four new OptusNet Cable plans
On the Lightning Fast plan everyone paid the same monthly fee - no matter how much or how little data they used each month. The four new OptusNet Cable plans are usage-based, so you only pay for the amount of data you need each month - making access to cable Internet fairer for everyone.

Each plan has a monthly data download allowance. Unlike other service providers, we won't charge you extra if you exceed your plan's data allowance. You'll be able to continue to use the Internet, but at a maximum speed of a 28.8kbps dial-up modem until the end of the month.1.

** Data will be counted in Megabytes (MB). 1,000MB = 1 Gigabyte (GB). Only data downloaded is counted towards your monthly allowance.



When will I need to choose a new OptusNet Cable plan?
You can stay on your existing Lightning Fast plan until the end of your 12 month commitment, or you can change to one of the new usage-based plans after 1 August.
As a Choices 5 customers, if you choose the Standard 3GB plan, valued at $69.95 a month - we'll give it to you for only $63.95 a month. That's the same price you've been paying for your current Lightning Fast service, and a saving of $6 a month. This special price is available until further notice. If you move to another plan and then decide to go back to the Standard 3GB plan, you'll pay the standard Choices price of $69.95 per month.

If you would like to change plans, click here. Please note the price advertised online for the Standard 3GB plan will be $69.95 per month. Remember, this price does not apply to you as you receive the special price of $63.95 per month.

Changes to My NetStats
If you decide to remain on your existing Lightning Fast plan, from 1 August there will be a change made to My NetStats. From this date, the My NetStats "Average Customer Usage" will be permanently fixed to 1,120MB over any rolling 14 day period. You can still use up to ten times the Average Customer Usage (ie. 11,200MB) for each usage period, however if you exceed this limit your service may be suspended and/or terminated.
