I’m accepting the news, it seems believable: omicron as less virulent but more infectious than delta and so it will replace delta over time and I’d imagine vaccines not being as effective on omicron sounds legit too given the mutations in the binding sites. If omicron replaces delta which I can see happening it’ll be like a free vaccination for the majority of the healthy population. The negative is that if omicron festers in some unvaccinated/unhealthy communities long enough, it’ll mutate again, there’ll always be some residual protection against new strains hence forth. I guess we wait a couple weeks to find out whether we will go back into lockdown but I see people who wanted holidays booking them just from the news we’ve had so far.
