If the new tech is scalable and can be tuned accordingly, It wouldn't be out of the question to then proceed to offer 4DS shareholders a buyback/stock split scenario, probably around the $2.35 mark. If the new division at WD floats at even $5, that's a good outcome. You'll probably find a trading halt will be requested next for 4DS, an offer will be put to shareholders, it'll either be accepted or rejected but most likely accepted and the company will change hands. It won't take 12 months. I think if you've invested your hard earned with this company because you believe in what they are doing and waited patiently as so many of us have, removing the emotion - you have to have a level of faith that they are experienced enough together with their legals who are well versed in M&A to bring the best possible deal home for all players. Full disclosure - I have a significant holding and will be at the meeting in sunny Perth.

Nice try but if there was any truth in anything you are suggesting this stock wouldn't be drifting down down to 11 cents.

Human nature and the nature of markets would have meant that if all that was true we would be at $1 by now - as humans can't keep their traps shut.

It would have leaked like a sieve

There would be dozens if not over 100 people exposed to this info - and there is no way they wouldn't mention something to a friend here or a family member there. Multiply that out by 50 or 100 people and then add the flow on effect - that's why you get massive price spikes and volume BEFORE good news in many cases. Look at the period just before the megabit success news. Goes from 3 cents to 6 cents on no news - but some people knew and bought and pushed price up for no apparent reason. I even got someone out of the blue ringing me about the stock and sniffing around the day before the announcement.

This time there is nothing - no spike, no volume, no sniffing, just crickets.

So there is no fanciful scenario happening behind the scenes as you have vividly described

I wish you were right.
