Just my opinion, but give me ANZ at $17 over Zip any day! I'm 38 too and have similar amounts to you invested into ANZ, and the best thing is I can sleep at night. We know what we are going to get with ANZ. In 20 years time I'll be 58 and looking at retiring, and I am reasonably confident that I know that ANZ will be still around, that it will be worth roughly $30- $40 and that it is giving out 7% - 9% dividends pa. I also know that I have reinvested those dividends along the way (actually I signed up for BOP) and that compounding has done some amazing things.
With Zip I don't know any of these things. Is the business still around in 20 years? Did the BNPL industry get heavily regulated? Did APT and Zip ever make profits? How long did they run at a loss? Yes it could go crazy, but it could also just as easily fall flat.
I much prefer buying into a business like ANZ, especially at the discounts we saw during the Covid pandemic.
