That's partly true. Casuals are paid $30/hr and full-timers are on about $23-$24. Once you start as a casual, you're then offered part time or full time work to keep wage costs down. It's simply not true that tradies are leaving to go and work at Bunnings. If they are, they're doing it for a lifestyle change and definitely not to earn more.
Interestingly, I had a chat with a complex manager the other day. I asked him how business was going. His response "as per usual, just flat out".
But Bunnings is no different to players like COL, WOW, MTS etc. They all pay crap money.
But as for @david25 he obviously has an axe to grind. He goes to great lengths to single out WES, but it's incredible how many people are employed in the retail space and how poorly they are paid. If that David dude is correct, then the country is stuffed and WES should be the last of your concerns. But having said that, his opinion is just that. Just an opinion. Best to just not respond.
