    In every WES annual report one of the executives adds a comment a couple of
    lines long referring to a relative who had shares from when they first listed on
    disallowed about 30 years ago. If they re-invested all the dividends in
    WES shares they would now have an investment worth many hundreds of times
    the value of their initial allocation of shares. It is a perfect illustration of the
    effect of compounding. Look up one of the old reports if you have the time.

    Of course if you were to sell them now about $48 per share would be subject to CGT.
    If you are on a low income the CGT would not be much. However on a high income
    the CGT may be 45% or whatever the top marginal rate is nowadays. Either way they
    were a fantastic investment.
