The uptake of EVs will do nothing to reduce carbon emissions in Australia because the power used to recharge
them comes from the burning of coal. Sure, some people have large solar arrays on their roofs (like myself)
but many of the more affluent types that buy EVs live in apartments and cannot install solar panels.
It is only in countries that have Nuclear Power where lowered CO2 emissions will occur.

In the G20 group of nations I think 18 have nuclear power and we are not one of them.

In the manufacture of EV batteries an enormous amount of CO2 is produced. Numerous surveys
available on the internet show that you will have to drive 140,000Km to break even with the lower
amounts of CO2 produced in the manufacture of an ICE vehicle.
If you are recharging from a coal fired power station you will be even further behind.

In Europe, China, India, and the US driving an EV makes sense but not here in Australia.
