The trouble is that election after election going back at least fifty years they keep telling us how things are going to be simplified and notice what the ongoing topic is at any point in time LOL, ‘the complexity’. The reality is it will never change. They will tinker at the edges but no way will they simplify things to the extent that the regulatory systems in a whole raft of areas are transparent and fair to all.

Some of the most rich and powerful want complexity in order to be able to have the inbuilt loopholes necessary to minimise their tax outlays and to make it very difficult for breaches to be established. The system will always be weighted in favour of the rich and powerful simply because they can afford to engage top lobbyists, lawyers and to influence politicians with political donations and occasionally even make clearly corrupt payments.

Think about it. They have promised simplification of regulation generally for at least fifty years and here we are in 2018 complaining about complexity!

The rich many of whom have Legal and Accounting practices or are heavily invested in providing investment services likely prefer complexity because thats how they justify the huge fees they apply to customers. If its simple they may not be needed. Big business generally doesn’t mind it either because it’s actually easier to manipulate complex systems to their advantage. It’s not only some multi-millionaires that do not pay tax but also some of the most profitable multi-national companies in the world avoid tax using complexity as the escape route.

    cheers
