Because idiots still think that the USD is a safe haven and would rather put their money in that in times of trouble like an involuntary action rather than look further then their nose and see that the only safe haven left are precious metals...

There is no secret that $50 was the all time high for silver when the hunt brothers tried to corner the market, so it is of no surprise that it failed to pass $50 on the first try. I was surprised however that silver fell as much as it did, pretty much halved from it's high, however, once $50 is surpassed (in the not too distant future), then $100 will come very quickly since there is no resistance above it...
