In this context, let us recall the words of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček, commenting on the return of lithium deposits to Czech hands: “We were in a situation where we lost control of lithium, but in cooperation with ČEZ we succeeded almost regain control of this strategic deposit. We consider it a great success, we appreciate the approach of ČEZ and a number of Czech research institutes that helped in professional analyses.

However,there are more and more voices from Germany calling for a merger of German and Czech lithium mining projects,which would result in a great offer for Elon Muska, who wants to build the largest car battery factory in Brandenburg, Germany. The treasures below Cínovec are of inestimable value and represent the largest lithium reserves in Europe. In addition, there are large deposits of tin and valuable tungsten. A common mine and the construction of a manufacturing industry would represent a huge opportunity for Czech companies and would offer thousands of new jobs.

Of course, the ČEZ energy company is looking for a suitable partner, but the conditions for joining the German proposals would have to be really thoroughly addressed and the principle that most of the shares of a possible new company would remain in Czech hands, as also follows from the lithium deposit.

The EU institutions have already pledged financial and political support for the project in advance
