I’ve done it myself. If you are looking to buy in at whatever the mornings open price, the higher price you put, the higher chance your order will be hit. If you place a more conservative order you sometimes find that a large player outbids you’re at the last seconds with their fast access algorithms.
There’s no risk of paying too much as a small player on huge liquid stocks like CSL - but I wouldn’t recommend the strategy on small companies.
