They don't need to have seen the outputs to have an idea of whether or not the treatment is effective. There would be plenty of anecdotal feedback filtering through to management. The key thing is that if the results are good and work quickly then everyone that had been taking the placebo for 2 or months will realise this and stop (potentially invalidating the results).

They messed up by promising the interim results - they may need to wait until the minimum number for a valid result have had their 6 month booster - waiting for all of them would be till June but they oversubscribed so hopefully it is happening this month (for September/October 2015 cohort).
