You didn't read my posty of yesterday explaining that its not just the net pay that counts but the size (square km) of the structure and this one is LARGE! Some 10 times Chinguetti's areal extent.
Also, I believe that gross oil columns include non-reservoir components between the reservoir sections. What they drilled were multiple fan structures stacked on top of one another with non-reservoir rock in between. Its what was expected and would have been in their pre-drill estimates so they have CONFIRMED them and BP thinks (on advice I would assume) that the final numbers will EXCEED the pre-drill estimates.
