Andash, Jerooy mines don't work over license problems – Geology Agency Director
Bishkek (AKIpress) - Mongolia had a breakthrough in the mining industry, though it had problems with issuance of licenses almost for free. The same situation took place in Kyrgyzstan: licenses were issued for $4-6, Geology Agency Director Ishimbai Chunuev said at the meeting with the Mongolian delegation on December 13.

He said the subsoil law was revised in Kyrgyzstan to make it more liberal and to enable its administration through economic methods.

Such big gold mines as Jerooy and Andash do not work over license problems. “Your experience wil be very useful for us. Unfortunately, Kyrgyzstan has protest moods. We created the units to work with local communities, who will monitor the situation,” he said.

The World Bank provides consultations for the Geology Agency, Chunuev stated. The Geology Agency plans to announce a competition for Togolok mine at the recommendation of the World Bank.

“We should issue a mining code in 2013. Kyrgyzstan has all elements from the Mendeleev's Periodic Table. The mines should be developed with benefit for the people,” Chunuev said.
