It may be that the oil present in the fractured volcanics is seepage from somewhere else. It looks like from my quick research that fractured volcanics are predominately granite type rocks. If this is the case then the oil in place is not stored in the rock but in the fractures?
Good news on this well is that it is actually producing and, from a rather large oil column. Good news number 2 is that it is light sweet crude, the Thai oil refineries are not set up to treat heavy waxy crude. The heavier waxy types of crude are generally sent to Singapore or China. This would involve further transportation and costs.
Let’s hope for a productive well from the northern end of the NSE field to show the size of the field, and this company should take off.
