Sticking a hole in the ground is gambling and that is a mining companies life blood. All big and small mining companies do that. Did you think they increased reserves some other way that provides for 100% certainty? You must be thinking of another industry.
I think you'll find more than ever that established mining companies are buying into exploration plays because it is much cheaper to do that than takeover an established company. And it is still a gamble based on the potential for finding more reserves.
Obviously many tonnes at 4% Zn isn't attractive.
