I can't agree Dave R. Hybrid cars may reduce fuel costs in some situations (city commute) but it's only a short to mid term saving because the bluddy batteries cost a small fortune to replace ($8K-$10K) after they fail in about 10 years. Very few peopel are mentioning this. Also, at the moment, the batteries have to go back to Japan for recycling.
So: folks do *not* buy a second hand hybrid car otherwise you may be buying a huge battery bill.
Secondly, the image of my taxes going to line the pockets of the biggest carmaker in the world is obscene. The $35 mil could have better gone to restore the solar subsidy to socalled "rich" and restore life to the local solar industry.
