the Prius tested to ADR81/01 does 4.4lt/100 km
so 6lt/100 km for a bigger Camry would have to be fairly close to the mark
As to the actual governemnt funding even Bredon Nelson is calling for state and federal governments to provide assistance to the local car industry.
And Lab have formed a $500mil fund to provide this assistance.
The fund will operate for five years from 2011 and is designed to ``accelerate the development and manufacture of low-emission and fuel-efficient vehicles in Australia''.
The government will contribute $1 from the fund for every $3 put up by industry
As the direction of the automotive industry is towards low-emission, fuel efficient vehicles, it only makes sense that any assistance given to the industry (assistance even the libs agree should be given) should be directed to this area.
