The relationship between Japan and China is not one of "like".. at present it's pure expediency. It goes back centuries. Will Japan prefer to do business with Lynas over China...you bet!!! The price of REE per unit (whatever) requiring REE is very low BUT the availability is CRITICAL...thats all you need to know. Thus the price is set but an ability to avoid China and availabilty of supply untainted by politics will add a premium gladly paid.. Japans business model re REE availability would rather not have anything to do with China. If we can get HREE up and out for consumption the world would gladly turn its back on China for this strategic mineral.
China have showed a propensity for extortion regarding using REE supply esp to Japan.
The essential nature of REE supply is understated by so many.
The Japanese know it,the EU knows it and the US senate knows it. They will not repeat not allow themselves to depend on China for REE ...cheap shoes and T shirts yep. Products where the metallurgy is not important, yes. Depend on a Chinese designed and produced engine without OS quality control...hysterical. Use a Chinese YKK couterfeit zip and enjoy .
Businesses requiring REE that set up in China do so only for the cheap labour and at present REE supply with a risk that is ever present (industrial espionage ,trademark infringement etc.)
Japans attitude to setting up factories in China and taking jobs away from Japanese would be intolerable at every gut level in Japanese culture.
We are going to see a company that with the advancement of the Electron age become an essential part of international need and want.
Be patient..the rewards will slowly tick up..wait for the first quarter income...
I am expecting returns on my investment to exceed interest rates (that are dropping slowly to low international rates to enable competition) in about 1- 2 years.
If you dont like Lynas then if you have a home ..go to it and leave us to sink or swim.
I wont be smug if we do well..just satisfied in my choice of action.
