This is a sad story.
When I was a student early 90', I lived in a three bed room unit with my partner near the Parliament House, just two of us in the unit which was reasonably affordable so that I could survive with my scholarship, even my partner was just a housewife with no income [we were not eligible for any government benefits at that time].
When I got my first job, I was able to buy a two bed room unit with less than 3 times of my income. But I insisted to buy my first house without any loan and started saving, considering Australia has a vast of land. When I was young, my parents struggled a lot of time with their debit. So I hated any loan.
Anyway, something needs to be done for rental/house affordability. Many property investors may enjoy from this rental/house crisis. It can be very painful for the next/young generation due to high cost of accommodation.
It's too cruel for young generation if we/the goverment overlook(s) this sort of episode.
Cheers to young generation.
