It is important because those living there have to go somewhere else. Just because lots of houses are for sale does not imply an oversupply, nor does few houses for sale imply undersupply of houses relative to the current population base of Australia.
007 implied that so called 80000 houses worth of homeless people could be fully housed in the 370000 houses for sale - which IMHO is untrue as I doubt there would be 80000 vacant houses out of that 370 000. If you can prove otherwise do so - until then I will call it a rubbish statement!
