10 billion might bring down a bank, but it would be nowhere near the disaster of a loss measured in terms of trillions of dollars, which is what the original poster was implying. Actually, there was talk at one point that Bill Gates would be the world's first trillionaire, but it never happened. I think he got to 400 billion.
