Regarding fire hazard tests for different plants the attached (from the Tas. Fire Dept.) contains a table of plants from high flammability to low flammability.
It is, IMO, somewhat negligent of some councils to plant high flammability plants very close to houses - e.g. 20 years ago a creek in my suburb contained mainly willows. There is a public walk next to the creek. Rows of houses, for about two Km, are about 10mts from the creek. The willows were removed (I do not have a problem with this) and replaced with mainly gum trees - the gum trees are now very tall and connect to forested hills- just a matter of time for this fire hazard to cause significant problems.https://www.fire.tas.gov.au/publications/1709%20Brochure.pdf
