I often wonder that. why is anyone selling at the moment? because when I want to buy, I figure everyone knows what I do and they should want to buy.
but then sometimes I sell because I have other more important uses for that much money.
like, I just bought a house and I want to pay the stamp duty, …
everyone has things going on in their lives.

sometimes their stop loss just kicks in and they don’t override it, they just sell.

and in this particular case, with 2M shorts. maybe someone is working that to try to drive the price down for their short.
I think you’re right though. the re-rate should be pretty close, and if it comes before that price drops much further their short is going to be a very difficult position for them. but I hate shorting. I think it should be banned.
