3g wireless network

Any opinions on this new technology.Have just bought a palm organiser for my daughter;it is colour and takes digital photographs,an MP3 player,and programs can be added to it.....games and it can be a phone.Even a slow geek like myself can work out that the gap between a phone and a laptop computer is closing rapidly.In stores you have to stand in line with all the kids to get a chance of trying one.When the 3G network is up and running,the new mobiles will be the thing to have amongst the young.The initial cost will go down as did the original mobile phones.Is it time to get in at the bottom.
