ponting definitely sets the tone, puts the fielders in at silly point to get in the batsmans face, encourages the bowlers carry on with the batsman after the ball is bowled etc... you know he would have revved the team up on the morning of the 4th day, 'win at all cost' mentality...

does anyone know what watson has been fined? cricket australia should suspend him for a match on their own behalf... the guy has tarnished what little respect the australian cricket team had left...

it all boils down to money imo... the game is so serious now, the stakes are much higher than in the early days when cricket established its 'gentlemanly' code of conduct, where players were playing for pride, not to keep their spot in the team and to earn a lucrative contract with cricket australia etc...
