That was the only list i could find dated june 2007. I'm not sure about cvrd/vale.
Out of the list, Shougang were the ones that i could find that were involved with iron ore in Peru.
I also found a link that said corporate tax on capital gains was 30% in Peru (not sure if it was up to date). If it was there could be a A$150m tax payout from A$500m profit. I'm sure the directors will try and find a way out of paying that amount of tax if it is the case. Maybe the deal could be structured in a different way - i don't know.
Even if they pay A$150m in tax and the deal goes through, the company are still looking at around $3.60 per share cash backing diluted. What value are their other assets worth?
There would be a few companies eyeing up Strike for a takeover if they had a pile of cash sitting in the bank imo, so i'd be hoping for at least $4 if this goes through.
