Have a look at MFS when its troubles became known. Sold 65% of its best asset at firesale prices, with a complete question mark remaining on the viability of the remainder of the company going forward. Court to decide its fate later on in December.
Obviously, no two companies or situations are exactly alike, but you do wonder if there will be any value left after deals are done (if they're done).
