This is a general comment, not specifically about Islam or any other minority. Rather it is about specific individuals or people who claim to represent them.
There are a bunch of people in this world who have realised that a great way to get what you want is to
a) Claim the role of a victim
b) Scream that nobody deserves to be a victim
c) Do everything they can to perpetuate their role as a victim so that the original theatre then becomes reality.
d) Be convining enough to suck everyone else into the fantacy
So Joe Average who is quietly going about his business is, in a relative sense, suddenly the person who has power and can either take the role of hero by assisting the victm , or villain by failing to assist / rejecting the story line
Classic example: Socialist Alliance.
Turn up, break the law on some noble pretext (activism), get pepper sprayed, role around looking pathetic while all your mates wash your eyes (and cover you in a space blanket for no particular reason), wait for the photos, get up and have a latte while you tweet to your 1000+ followers about the outrageous treatment.
