THE Gillard government has embarked on the nation's biggest-ever capital works project, announcing $214 million in funding for 12 next generation submarines to be built in South Australia...(This funding will go towards further detailed studies and analysis to inform the government's decision on the design of Australia's next submarine).

Why don't we just buy them from Germany?...and save billions.

Am I correct in saying that we are currently struggling to crew 3 of the 6 existing subs now...but we want to build 12?

We'll end up sending them to Darwin and using them as floating accommodation for new arrivals...useless!!!
