Yes, in numerical terms, it may provide protection against currency devaluation, especially with currencies like the Argentina peso.
But compared to holding other hard assets, such as Sydney, London, NY, Paris real estate, or investing with Warren Buffet types, its comes a very distant second. In the future, it may be far more advantageous to be invested in certain metals, A.I. stocks, drug companies etc etc.
The current gold boom has special factors that may not last such as "de-dollarisation", especially when the Yuan is traded like the US$, when the Indian Rupee is strong, and when a new world trade order is established.
Its simplistic in the extreme to project gold having exponential growth, into a future that will be dominated by technology and human advancements on a scale currently unimaginable, where other more sophisticated forms of wealth and capital will surely exist ...... if mankind hasn't created a permanent nuclear winter.

Gold is already moon shooting, just look at that chart!

It wasn’t long ago people who predicted $2000 gold were thought of as a bit loopy, now it’s $3500!

There’s nothing to stop gold shooting for the stars. Pick any number you like, it’s only a matter of time. I mean, unless we’re going to re-make our entire monetary system, stop printing fake money, governments live within their means… hahaha. not going to happen any time soon.

A while ago I took the advice and started putting 5% away in physical gold, it’s been great. balanced with shares and real estate.
