Or maybe a certain aggressive ambitious reporter (not really a journo IMO) is braking some rules and doesn't seem to think she will be busted for it or suffer the usual blacklisting. This suggests one of two things, the above or it was "cash for comment". Not cash, just a story that someone wanted broken.
To brag, a friend of mine made up the term "Cash for Comment". He was writing for AAP at the time and did the release that went out to all the radio stations for the live read that morning around 4am. By 9am, every radio station in the country had read the story, and the phrase, into our language.
