Let's not get obsessed about the A$ strength - YES, the Little Aussie Battler has lots of stuff to dig up and sell, to maintain the illusion that "we're special".
BUT, what about our massive private foreign debt and our massive government debt which almost tripled under the Libs (you know, the party who still has the audacity to say they'll always deliver lower taxes and debt than Labor) .... all the while Australia has an unsustainable population growth!
So, do the laws of economics don't apply to Aussie, or are we "special" ??

Australia is massively dependent on agriculture & mining for our prosperity, and the export income they generate.
All those middle class wankers who are trying to "shut down the worlds largest coal export terminal (Newcastle) " (which means its incredibly important to NSW and Australia's prosperity) .... don't seem to realise that this export income is irreplaceable and their standard of living, which assuredly is subsidised by the ' tax payer ' which depends on export income .... the very thing they are trying to close down ???
Don't these idiotic idealists ever suffer from cognitive dissonance ???
Why aren't they protesting outside the Saudi, UAE and Qatar embassy's demanding they stop selling oil and gas ??
Why aren't they protesting outside the Indonesian government embassy and demanding they shut down their large coal industry and their dirty, environmentally destructive nickel industry ??? What about IOUSA fracking ???? Lets have some even handed protesting !!!

If one looks at the chart below, its hard to see why people are getting worried about the minor fluctuations in the A$ - the A$POG / AISC ratio has not been this good in living memory, and it's likely to remain so for the immediate future. Gold miners are earning massively at present.
The A$ can't get much stronger than the IOUSA$ as we're at war with our main trading partner, and Australia can't print US$ or Bitcoin:
    - there is NO FREE LUNCH.
Once RED pays down its debt and reduces the impact of hedging (one way or another) the SP may further rerate and make itself very tempting as a partner in M&A .... perhaps within the next 12months .... till then its a comfortable HOLD .... IMHO.
