Bought my first share in 1969 in the nickel boom - it doubled and I panicked and sold ... it then went up a further 3 fold before crashing and burning. Back then "brokerage was 2-3%" - thank god for Commsec.
This was Poseidon Nickel which went to A$200 per share .... now some wannabe is trying to resurrect it - currently 1.6c per share.
I was a bemused spectator when Nixon took the IOUSA off the gold standard - that was my first gold bull market.
The big difference with todays gold market, is Russia and China's determination to "de-dollarize" - It remains to be seen if this factor will propel gold to heights that give gold bugs "wet dreams".
