That is of course, unless in that event the replacement is not actually worse than Putin. A very real possibility given Russia's history.

Easily done with political will - and hundreds of billions of dollars. Considering the way things are going ATM, not something we need to worry about for quite a few years. I think ESG will be taking a bit of a back seat for a while. We can't afford it right now. Plus it must take some of the blame for the current energy crisis - supply was already becoming quite tight before the war, due to lack of investment in recent years.

The only way that O&G demand will reduce, is if the developed nations all crash their economies. We seem to be heading that way as central banks seek to fight inflation caused by external factors (supply shocks), with a tool (reducing money supply) that is intended to fight inflation caused by internal factors (overheated economy).

Interesting times.
