Relevant to the oil potential of the North Perth basin, this little gem of information dropped 26 July 2024 in the June 2024 Mineral Resources Quarterly.

North Erregulla-2 was a development well for the Dongara sst oil zone encountered in North Erregulla Deep-1. NE-2 encountered additional oil pay in the Arranoo sst.

Quote; Drilling of North Erregulla-2 oil appraisal well in April 2024 intersected significant oil pay interval, comparable to the 47m net pay evaluated at North Erregulla Deep-13. New oil pay was also observed in the overlying Arranoo Sandstone.

Analysis of the North Erregulla-2 well testing continues, with average production rates of 675 barrels of oil
per day (bopd) and reaching a maximum of 900bopd. Oil assay analysis confirmed 31-degree American
Petroleum Institute gravity and 0.1% sulphur, which indicates a sweet, medium to light crude oil. End Quote

This was a follow on to the 16 June 2023 ASX announcement of a Dongara sst oil zone in North Erregulla Deep-1 confirmed in the subsequent drilled North Erregulla-2 above.

Quote:An oil zone was also identified in the secondary objective Dongara Sandstone at 3,238m MDRT. Oil fluorescence was observed over a gross 90m section from the top Dongara Sandstone into the Wagina Formation. Wireline log evaluation indicates a net oil pay within this interval of approximately 47m, with an average porosity of 13%. Future appraisal wells will further define any resource potential.End Quote

This is not to infer that Booth-1 will achieve the same result in the Dongara Sandstone and the Arranoo sst as at North Erregulla-2 well or in overlying shallower Jurassic targets, but there is oil moving around in the Triassic sedimentary section above the primary gas target in the Kingia sst to the south east of Booth-1 as well as Triassic and shallower Jurassic oil that has been produced from the Mt Horner Oil field to the west of Booth-1.

All that is obviously needed at Booth-1 is a valid structural trap, reservoir and the migration of oil and gas into the Booth Prospect sandstones targets to form an oil and gas accumulation.
