Think about it this way Matt.
I own a part of a business, say 20% for arguments sake, and we agree to sell it to you.
Before we receive payment from you i sell my 20% ownership to someone else.
Based on your logic i will get my funds from the 3rd party when i transfer my ownership to them, and then i will also receive the proceeds of the sale to you and they will get nothing.
Think about it this way Matt.I own a part of a business, say 20%...
