you bought 20% of a business at full price
you and the other owners agree to sell me 50% of the business at half the value of the business. Deal done. I agree to pay you half the money now and half later
the business is now worth half of what it previously was as it's lost 50% of it's assets
later you decide to sell your 20% holding to a third party for 50% of the price you originally paid (as you sold 50% of the business to me, and the business is worth 50% less)
do you think that the third party should get any of the money I'm giving you in the second payment?
no. That was a separate and closed deal
