I would agree that contractors can be cheaper for small jobs. But for run of the mill trucking and digging we should see off a few of these "overviewers" and get in some hands on managers. I spoke up at an AGM re this and the Chairman kindly introduced me to a Director who was a contractor. I remarked that he was wearing a very expensive suit whereas myself as a shareholder was not.
I would agree that contractors can be cheaper for small jobs....
