Your right dS, it happens a lot with shares as well.
The goal is to buy at VWAP or slighly below VWAP. Investors with deep pockets (and probably hedge funds) as well use this technique when they are taking a large position and buying on market.
IMO its a broker executing the trades not an indvidual.
