Adelaide-based Alcidion lands $2.6M Northern Territory hospital project

Adelaide-based health informatics provider, Alcidion, has struck a $2.6 million contract extension with the Northern Territory Department of Health for the provisioning of its Miya ED and Patient Flow modules.

The contract covers six hospitals in the Northern Territory and is valued at $888,000 per annum for a duration of three years, with two options for one-year extensions.

The platform is currently installed at Royal Darwin Hospital, Katherine Hospital, Gove District Hospital, Tennant Creek Hospital and Alice Springs Hospital, with the technology also being deployed at the Palmerston Regional Hospital, which will open soon.

“We are very pleased to continue working closely with these sites to improve patient flow, bed management and productivity,” Alcidion CEO, Kate Quirke, said.

Alcidion has maintained its relationship with the Northern Territory Department of Health since 2008.

In April, Alcidion spent $12 million acquiring healthcare-focused IT solutions provider MKM Health and its affiliate, Patientrack Holdings.

The deal also involved MKM Health’s New Zealand subsidiary as well as Patientrack’s UK and Australian subsidiaries, substantially expanding Alcidion’s domestic and international footprint.

Meanwhile in 2015, Alcidion raised $1.5 million to fund the expansion of its clinical decision support platform, Miya, while three years prior, the provider was backed by a $2.4 million investment by a fund managed by Blue Sky Private Equity, which helped fund the development of its clinical decision support ‘Miya’ platform.

Designed for emergency departments, patient flow and outpatient services, Miya couples a holistic patient profile with customised best practice modules.

The unique combination helps clinical and allied health staff maximise efficiencies, avoid clinical errors and reduce costs.
