As a deviation, but apposite here - if you read this week's Economist's science section, you'll see that anti-depressants show a qualitative improvement for people with severe depression. As do the more mildy depressed - but those results seem to show only a mild improvement above the placebo effect. That however IS an improvement. All this is something the popular press doesn't say.
