Magnetic-based applicators that induce diamagnetic repulsion and induced charge permeation have potential to improve skin benefits following application of skin care moisturizer formulations by increasing stratum corneum penetration. We evaluated the skin barrier response to a moisturizer formulation containing niacinamide when applied with an applicator designed with specifically constructed magnetic microarray. Clinical evaluation of the magnet applicator was conducted in a 4-week, randomized and controlled forearm study of 54 white women aged 30-60 years old, with a baseline TEWL range of stratum corneum barrier function from 6-16 g/m²/hr.
