    Whats is the Market like for Non volatile Memory chips going forward?

    Non Volatile refers to chips that do not loose the data stored in them when a device is switched off.

    Currently there has been, and continues to be, an explosion in Mobile devices be they mobile phones, Tablets (ie Ipad) or the traditional Laptop. Each new version comes out with increased CPU power and increased RAM and increased (Non Volatile memory). The strong trend has been away from disk drives in these devices to Solid State Memory (Flash Memory) for non volatile storage. So Demand is and will continue to be strong in this area.

    In addition to this an increasing amount of "Cloud" Storage capacity is based on Flash memory in servers. This is due to the need for Speed and also due to the fact that the old technology "Disk drives" tend to fail more often that Flash memory and use more power and generate more heat.



    A slide on the 4D-S website sums up the the trend in data storage requirements nicely (Growth is Expected to be Exponential):
