Why are we focussed on a single buyer?

Let's assume WD indicated last year the wouldn't / couldn't pay the asking price, hence the extra wafer lots / tweaks to suit their own potential uses.

The need to bring the DRs in and the "sweet deal" which dilutes everybody (JD), makes no sense if the BOD had an understanding to sell to WD.

Selling to WD might have been the case 2019, but the new CEO of WD, perhaps has a different agenda.

So, the board had to find plan B last year, recruit someone with all the connections to make all the deals.

I say deals, as if WD, will have rights to the tech / patents, it won't be exclusive. So then why not sell the tech to all comers, perhaps with exclusivity to various uses, or more likely a consortium.

JD stepping aside, has to indicate, he didn't believe he could close a deal at the top dollar, unable to stitch together a consortium of industry players.
