WD can't buy shares in 4DS now, even if they wanted to - because the are inside the tent with respect to the development process. It would be insider trading.

Any other company like Samsung, Intel, Micron etc - aren't going to start scooping up 4DS shares on the basis of some wooly figures - they will want hard performance data that will only be available once IMEC sign off on their development work. This will be sold on the basis of an off-market auction - each bidder will hand over their closed envelope to the board for their consideration.
