4DS - Anything but Charting, page-14663

A question regarding the US patents 4DS have obtained.
I know little about Patent Law, but in my current state of boredom I was just interested to know what would stop countries like China just copying the technology once it is released ?

I just googled the following for my own interest :

Do US patents apply in other countries?
Since the rights granted by a U.S. patent extend only throughout the territory of the United States and have no effect in a foreign country, an inventor who wishes patent protection in other countries must apply for a patent in each of the other countries or in regional patent offices.

Are US patents valid in China?
This means that trademarks and patents registered in the United States offer no protection in China. ... The U.S. owner of the intellectual property will call these products “knock-offs” or infringements, but the manufacture and sale of those items in China and from China is perfectly legal.

Considering the past record of China in matters regarding technology, should we have concerns, and are these concerns factored into a 'purchase price/ Licensing Fee.'

Is this a 'real ' concern ?
